VY VU
The two-part poster focuses on community power, collective care, and reclaiming control in the face of AI data centers. The harms of AI data centers are depicted at the bottom, something smaller that community is resisting and that community is going to overcome.
About the Artists
Vy Vu is a Vietnamese multidisciplinary artist, educator and movement facilitator. While their art explores collective joy, care, thriving of communities & equity in the midst of this violent, chaotic world; their facilitation focuses on conflict transformation, movement building and structuring community care. Both fields of work are intrinsically tied to each other and deeply inform one another. Coming from Vietnam, Vy integrates Vietnamese traditional values and indigenous art practices into their work. Through their art and facilitation work, Vy invites others to reimagine the ways we show up for one another to be able to build community and power to actualize the world we envision.

Artist Statement:
As AI grows and data centers are built faster across the country, large corporations are increasing environmental harm, especially for BIPOC communities in the U.S. and around the world. In response, frontline communities are organizing to resist these projects and create their own sustainable alternatives. This poster, made in collaboration with Creative Wildfire, is meant to highlight and support that ongoing work.
The data center at the bottom of the poster represents how these developments are built at the expense of our communities and the environment. They drain local water, pollute air and land, and increase surveillance, while also supporting state violence and ongoing wars and occupation globally. On both sides, communities are shown pushing back through direct action and by building systems of care, fostering sustainability, community safety, preservation of Indigenous knowledge, and food security.
